Reading 1 is session 5 of the revised Initial Training in Adult Literacies Learning (ITALL) pack. This aims to raise tutors’ awareness of their own reading strategies and consider some approaches to learning and teaching reading.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the session, participants will
- be aware of the skills, knowledge and understanding involved in everyday literacies
- be aware of the processes involved in reading
- be aware of some current theories on learning to read
- have considered how this understanding can contribute to developing appropriate teaching and learning approaches when working on reading with adult learners
