Summary
In 2004 Learning Connections responded to a number of enquiries from practitioners, looking for assistance in developing work in the area of youth literacies by establishing a Youth Literacies Discussion Group (YLDG). This report is result of setting up a group to explore youth literacies, identify effective practice and exchange ideas involving both adult literacies and the youth sector. The group engaged in an initial exploration of youth literacies and was supported by Learning Connections who commissioned a consultant from the University of Strathclyde to record the process. Using a rolling focus group methodology enabled maximum participation throughout Scotland.
